Meet Shelly R.

Evanston north shore doula

Shelly is a CAPPA trained postpartum doula, as well as, a student in The Matrona’s holistic doula program. A nurturer by nature, she believes that support for mothers and babies in the earliest months after birth is essential for their wellbeing. She loves supporting families in these tender early moments as they navigate this emotional and life changing time. Families describe her care as thoughtful, warm, gentle and attentive.

Her experience with children is wide-ranging, beginning at an early age as a mother’s helper, many summers spent as camp counselor, after-school program leader and substitute art teacher. While raising her own daughter, she shifted direction and spent many years working as a caregiver in a surgical healthcare environment. She was a nanny for children ranging from infant to early elementary school.

Shelly is a mother of one and a doting aunt to many. She very much enjoys cooking and has a strong interest in understanding the connections between hormone health and nutrition. She is also a photographer, nature enthusiast and enjoys making art of many types in her free time.
