Doula, Herbalist and Placenta Encapsulation Specialist
Celena has been a birth doula since 2009. She has also been an herbalist since 2009. After the empowering experience of birthing her first child at a birth center in Florida, Celena became dedicated to ensuring women have empowered birth experiences, no matter what choices the mother makes during her pregnancy, labor and postpartum period.
She trained as a doula through the International Center for Traditional Childbearing and is certified as a Sacred Pregnancy Instructor as well as a Sacred Postpartum Mother Roaster. She has trained with Full Circle Placenta Encapsulation to provide this nourishing service to the communities she serves.
When she is not working you can find Celena enjoying her family, getting her hands and feet dirty in the garden or nourishing herself with herbal wisdom. In 2014 she joined the core organizing team for the Midwest Womens Herbal Conference and looks forward to this experience each year with her children.
Celena is always looking for ways to assist families more completely and has recently trained as a Postpartum Doula through ProDoula and will soon be skilled with more Rebozo techniques.
Originating from the Chicagoland Area, Chelsea moved to Pittsburgh to pursue a career in Theatre Management. While in school she became a nanny for many families in the city and found a passion for child care. After finishing school, she moved back to Chicago and fell in love with her now husband. She is the proud mother of twins, Ruby and Roy, and is well equipped to take on any challenge.
Chelsea’s birth experience led her to the world of Birth Doulas and felt called to help expecting families in their biggest life change. Offering unbiased and non-judgmental support during YOUR birth, is Chelsea’s specialty. Her out-going and compassionate personality is guaranteed to fit right in with your family.
Chelsea is one of our well loved postpartum doulas. She is on high demand from the families we support who have multiples. She has twins of her own, which makes her have a deep understanding about twins and multiples. The families we support love the sense of calm that she brings to their family.
When Chelsea is not working you can find her at home playing with her children, spending time with friends, and in the kitchen whipping up a new culinary creation.
She is ready and excited to help you along this life-changing journey. She will be with you every step of the way bringing a deep sense of comfort and calm.
Christine was inspired to train as a doula after the birth of her first child 11 years ago. She initially trained with DONA and has since retrained with Doula Trainings International. She began working as a part-time doula and it became her full time career a few years ago. She has always been passionate about supporting families and she has worked with families in the Chicagoland area throughout the past 11 years.
As a doula, she believes her primary role is to provide families with the essential emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth and baby. Caring and supporting the mother while inspiring trust in a woman’s ability and intuition to birth in the way that empowers her. She also acts as a guide to support the partners involvement. She enjoys being a resource to the families throughout the process and has a vast understanding and knowledge about medical terminology, protocols and systems. She takes pride in providing positive and helpful communication with your entire team and medical staff.

Alex started her career in early education, completing college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. After college, Alex worked as a nanny for 4 years, caring for children of all ages.
After a friends’ wonderful experience with a doula during a rough labor, Alex realized how much support women need throughout pregnancy and labor. Therefore, she started learning, reading, and researching everything she could about what it is to be a doula.
Alex found DONA and completed her labor support training. She has worked with women in hospital settings and at their homes through their labors. She has experience with natural labor, as well as, those with epidurals. Alex took her postpartum doula training with ProDoula and has multiple years of personal experience with babies and children of families and friends.
Alex has completed courses with The Bradley Method and Informed Beginnings. She will be continuing her birth education by completing the Spinning Babies course and seeking certification as a lactation consultant.
In her spare time, Alex enjoys knitting and crocheting, cooking, spending time with friends, and loves to spoil her dog, Cami!
Juanita has been attending births for over 5 years. She trained with DONA and is currently certified by Matrona as an Advanced Doula in Holistic Childbirth. Juanita is familiar and experienced in both hospital births and home births and has supported women in many hospitals throughout the Chicagoland area. She is not only educated in labor and birth support, but she has also completed training in breastfeeding education.
The journey to become a doula was certainly a natural one for Juanita. Family has always been such a huge part of her life and she recognized at an early age that understanding and supporting families came very easy to her. Juanita born second to last in a family of 8, She has always been surrounded by babies, children and birthing women. Passionate about the why’s, how’s of family and community she pursued a career as a cultural anthropologist receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from NEIU. After the support of her doula in her second birth she realized the importance of doula work and felt that she had found her calling in life. Families love Juanita’s calm nature, warmth and passion. She cares deeply about all of the families that she supports.
In her free time Juanita enjoys dancing, working in her garden and spending time with her family. She is also fully fluid in Spanish.
A Chicago Native, Kelli originally pursued a career in the medical field as a medical assistant. While attending school she was a nanny. After working for a short time in the medical field Kelli discovered her passion for supporting families was the driving force that let her to her career in the medical field. After the birth of her sisters Twins she was even more driven to pursue a career as a postpartum doula.
She completed her postpartum training through ProDoula and has not looked back. She loves supporting families during this important time. Families love her kind nature, attention to detail and positive presence.
When not working Kelli loves spending time with her two year old son and her extended family.
Majel moved to Chicago from Seattle in 2004. She has been working with people throughout her life in service and nurturing roles, but when she became pregnant with her daughter in 2012, she discovered a need for non-judgmental support for parents in our society.
She was the first in her family and group of friends to become a mom and she had wished that she had more of a support system. She often times felt isolated and uncertain as a new mom. As those around her began starting families of their own she was able and happy to help. Many friends turned to her for guidance and emotional support. She loved helping and caring for her friends and their new babies. This led her to her career as a postpartum doula. She completed her postpartum doula training with Pro-Doula and has been following her passion to support families through this incredible and challenging period of their lives.
Majel has a strong desire to be a part of the “village” our society needs. She understands how important family is and how challenging becoming a parent can be. Majel’s experience with being a mother, a home daycare provider and a trained breastfeeding peer counselor along with her warm and kind presence make her an amazing postpartum doula. Families love her kindness, open-ness, attention to detail and nonjudgmental support.
Adriana immigrated fifteen years ago from her native country of Argentina. She has been a clinical massage therapist for 20 years specializing in techniques including prenatal massage and massage for people living with cancer. For many years, she was a caregiver for terminally ill family members and friends. After a life transition, she realized that she now wanted to work in a more positive and uplifting role and use her care-giving skill for mothers, babies and families. This led her to becoming a birth doula in 2010, a Lactation Counselor, a postpartum doula and Certified Educator of Infant Massage.
Her background in dance therapy has given her a deep understanding and knowledge of relaxation, visualization, and body balance methods that she uses in helping mothers to have a smooth and fear-free labor.
For the past five years, she has worked as a doula and childbirth educator for pregnant teenagers for Healthy Families of Illinois program.
She also has been a teacher and leader at women retreats and has always cared for others in need. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese. She is a mother and now a grandmother. When not at work she loves to dance, bike and travel.
Families love her calm nature, expertise, genuine kindness and professionalism.
Beth is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 14 years of experience supporting women and families to promote well-being and maternal/child health. The most fundamental to this was supervising a teen parenting program in Chicago Public Schools that guided and educated young moms. Beth is Bi-lingual in Spanish and has broad experience working with populations at risk. She is also infant/ child CPR certified.
After having her own children, Beth’s path has led her to doula work. She sees that all mothers need compassionate and affirming support after having a newborn and finds the place of walking along families in this transition to be fulfilling. With a kind and warm presence, Beth provides evidence-based guidance to families in her care and also believes mothers are the best experts on their babies.
Beth understands how wonderful it is to begin the journey into parenthood, but also how isolating it is at times. She seeks to empower women through supportive resources and help them access their inner strength. Beth looks forward to working with your family to participate in all of your daily needs.
Melissa has been a labor and postpartum doula for the past two years. She trained with Prodoula for both labor and postpartum. She has always loved supporting families and was a nanny for 15 years prior to becoming a doula.
Melissa loves to learn and has taken every training she could over the past few years. She has taken birth classes, happiest baby on the block, newborn care classes, sleep training and other sleep classes, potty training classes and more. Learning new ways to support families brings her a great deal of joy.
Families love Melissa’s warmth, empathetic nature, knowledge base and her ability to anticipate and meet the needs of all family members.
Born and raised in Michigan, Jennifer graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Museum Studies. Jennifer moved to Chicago a few months after graduation. She became a nanny for several wonderful families in the city for the next six years. During this time, Jennifer further pursued her love for yoga and completed her 200-hr. yoga teacher training with Amy Beth Treciokis at Yoga Now Chicago and her 85- hr. prenatal yoga teacher training with Sarah Longacre Ehlers and Stacy Seebart at Blooma in Minneapolis, MN. Through her training at Blooma, Jennifer met many birth doulas and found herself being called to this profession. Jennifer completed her DONA approved birth doula training with Patty Brennan at The Center for Childbearing Years in Ann Arbor, MI in April 2015. Since that time, she has completed training in optimal maternal and fetal positioning through Spinning Babies and served as a birth doula for several amazing families in Chicago. Outside of her work as a doula and yoga teacher, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, checking out the restaurant and live music scene, traveling and working on her personal yoga practice.
A life long learner and teacher, Andrea started her career as an early childhood education and bi-lingual teacher. She later turned her passions for teaching and physical well-being into a career as a Pilates instructor. After becoming a certified instructor she has successfully operated a Pilates studio for 15 years, where she provides instruction in pre-natal and post-natal Pilates.
Andrea followed her interests in teaching and supporting women when she decided to become a doula. A very warm and caring person, Andrea takes pride in her ability to anticipate her client’s needs and provide encouragement, as well as emotional and physical support. She delights in helping mothers and their partners have a less complicated and more rewarding birth experience. She is certified through DONA International as a birth doula and also enjoys supporting mothers with postpartum care, where she holds a certification with Pro Doula. Everyone who works with Andrea immediately notices her positive energy and down to earth personality.

Kearney began her career as a labor doula after supporting dear family friends in the birth of their son – her godson. That experience confirmed that birthwork and aiding postpartum families was on her horizon.
She trained and completed her certification as a DONA as a labor doula. Clients consistently praise her dedication and professionalism; they always know they are in good hands with her. A proponent of continuing education, she attended additional trainings (Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula and Postpartum Placenta Specialist) offered through ProDoula. Kearney’s previous career as an engineer provided her with a unique set of problem solving skills that enable her to create customized solutions to fit the varied needs of the postpartum families she serves.
Outside of serving families in their child-bearing year, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and creating a variety of projects from knitting and crochet to cross-stitch and paper-folding.
Shelley is the mother of three boys and has 21 years experience working with infants and young children. She has her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education and has run a daycare from her home for the past 9 years. She trained with Dona for her postpartum doula certification and is working on her certification as a Lactation Consultant. Shelley trained with ProDoula for her labor support training. Shelley enjoys cooking, baking, crafting, singing and reading. She most enjoys spending time with families. She feels that supporting mom, baby and family during the first three months of life is the most important and rewarding job. She truly enjoys watching families grow, bond and has a gift for helping families make this transition with confidence and trust. You will love Shelley’s warm and kind nature.
Ashley has been passionate about birth and postpartum for many years. She has read every book she can get her hands on about birth, postpartum and women’s health. Ashley has worked as a nanny for over 12 years and has cared for many women and families during postpartum.
She has known for many years that she wanted to support women during this transforming and special time although she wasn’t sure as to what capacity. After the birth of her daughter three years ago, it became clear that she wanted to become a doula. She trained with ProDoula to become birth and postpartum doula. She has continued to grow and learn and now offers a wide range of services.
Ashley also provides placenta encapsulation, postpartum belly binding, babywearing education and is a Child Passenger Safety Technician. She was also is trained in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
She is caring, kind, passionate, fun and friendly. Families love how willing she is to jump in and positively support their entire family. You will love Ashley’s energy and compassionate nature.
Theresa became a postpartum doula 6 years ago after realizing that this was something she has done in some capacity her entire adult life. She had discovered that she could make a very positive impact on a family’s comfort level and well being when providing care to mom, baby and family during this very precious time. Throughout her adult life she provided support to her many sibling, nieces, nephews, cousins and own children while they navigated parenthood and adjusted to a new baby. She is one of the oldest in a family of seven and many have relied on her vast knowledge of pregnancy, newborns, infants and children for as long as she can remember. She has offered childcare in her home and has cared for families for over thirty years. This has been her lives work. She is the mother of 5 grown children and Grandmother of 4 soon to be 5. You will love Theresa’s calm confidence, vast knowledge of everything mom and baby, ability to get it all done, amazing cooking skills and energy. When Theresa is not working she enjoys hosting family dinners, working out and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Emily has been working with and supporting new families since 2008. With a passion for newborns and the birth experience, Emily has contributed greatly to all of those she has come across in her profession. As a nanny for over a decade, she understands the care and support a mother and surrounding family needs during the stages before and after a new blessing joins the clan.
With a bachelors degree in biological sciences, she is able to take a critical eye to all interventions and methods a mother may be questioning during this time. Her advice is never given without evidence or experience in mind. Support, compassion, and professionalism are all central to her business of being a doula. As a trained Doula through ProDoula and an aspiring midwife, she will be there to work hand in hand with your health care professionals in a way that is unique to your needs.
Emily is loving, passionate and fun. She lives in Evanston with her fiance, Patrick, but spends most of her free time running around the city. Literally! As long as it isn’t too cold, of course.
Emily has been attending Midwifery School, but will be available for birth and postpartum clients May 2017-August 2017.

Anna has supported families as a Doula since 2009 and is committed to providing families with professional, compassionate and personal support. Anna gives 200% in all she does in life and brings this commitment and passion to every aspect of her work as a doula.
Anna has had the reputation of being a kind, calm, and loving person for as long as she can remember. She has always cared deeply for people and strives to support and care for all around her. She has worked with children and families since she was a teen. She supported families in the role of a nanny, preschool teacher, Americorps worker, respite worker and Special Education teacher, and finally as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. Anna was a Special Educator for ten years prior to becoming a Doula.
Anna is truly a life long learner. She earned her Masters degree in Education and has earned multiple degrees in Special Education. Once interested in birth she read every book she could get her hands on, became certified through DONA, Certified as a postpartum doula through ProDoula, Certified to teach Hypnobirthing, and is a certified Happiest Baby on the Block instructor. She loves to learn and is committed to sharing her vast knowledge with the families she works with.
