Meet Melissa B
Melissa is a certified labor and postpartum doula through ProDoula, and a certified breastfeeding specialist through Lactation Education Resources. She believes education is critical and is incredibly passionate about learning and improving her skills and expanding on her knowledge base. One big goal Melissa has is to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant! (IBCLC). She also has additional training in child development, nutrition, psychology and sociology. She is currently working on completing her Certified Sleep Consultant training.
Her love for this career blossomed even before she knew what it was. When she was a young girl she would watch the T.V. show, A Baby Story. That is where she believes her love for babies and the birthing process started. It is an incredible honor for Melissa to help provide care for moms and families through this process.
As a labor doula, Melissa supports all types of birth. She would consider it one of her greatest achievements for the mom to have a memorable birthing experience, in which she loved and is proud of. Melissa will bring her calming presence, knowledge and comfort measures to the table. She will do all she can to empower families as she knows that this is a beautiful intimate time that will be forever remembered.
Melissa will also support you with educational, physical and emotional support through your postpartum period. She has supported families for many years. She is incredible with babies and children. The adoration between Melissa and children is inspirational and will surely have a great impact in your life. She is not afraid to jump right in to help out wherever is needed! She will attend to the needs of the entire family.
In Melissa’s free time, she loves spending time with family and reading anything she can get her hands on.

“We used Melissa as a post-partum doula this winter/spring and cannot recommend her and Chicago Family Doulas highly enough. We had our first child in March, amidst the pandemic, and all of our family is located on the east coast. It was so helpful to have an extra set of hands around the house and a knowledgeable brain to pick. Melissa is also a baby nap ninja, which helped us transition away from contact naps and towards crib naps. She was very proactive about finding things to help with, never waiting to be asked to do things, Melissa would just find things to do and do them independently without creating a need for us to help or asking tons of questions.”
